This helps to alleviate local poverty, decrease unemployment, increase incomes, decrease emigration, and sustain the Palestinian handicraft industry.

approx 8cm x 9.5cm.

Handcrafted by economically disadvantaged artisan women

Cross stitch embroidery is a traditional craft of Palestinian women, many of whom are highly skilled in the art, and rely on this much needed supplement to their household incomes. In Palestine today, small collectives of women pool their resources to both buy their materials and sell their products.

Olive Co-operative purchases its embroidery from small women’s co-ops in the West Bank as well as bigger organisations such as the Ibdaa Cultural Centre and the Holy Land Handicraft Co-operative Society.
